Student and Professional Fellowships for the 2011 AAM Annual Meeting

 

AAM’s professional education program and Annual Meeting & Museum Expo™ are the best places to find a wide range of innovative and useful professional development experiences. To ensure that these opportunities are available to all museum professionals, CARE is offering two fellowships to the Annual Meeting in Houston.

 

The deadline for all fellowship applications below is Feb 18, 2011.

 

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must be:

Ø  a current, paid member of CARE at the time of application;

Ø  new to the museum field (in their first five years); and

Ø  have not previously attended the AAM Annual Meeting

 

Applicants for the Student Fellowship must be currently enrolled in a recognized university or college.

 

Number of Awards and Amount: Fellowship funds are to assist with the cost of conference registration, ticketed events and travel. Fellowship recipients will be eligible to register for the conference at AAM’s early bird rate.

One Student Fellowship –Covers the Annual Meeting registration, registration for the CARE Evening, Event and Issues Luncheon, Plus a $350 stipend.

One Professional Fellowship –Covers the Annual Meeting registration, registration for the CARE Evening, Event and Issues Luncheon, Plus a $350 stipend.

 

Recipients of the CARE Fellowship must:

Ø  Attend the CARE Business Meeting at the Annual Meeting;

Ø  Attend the CARE Evening Event at the Annual Meeting;

Ø  Attend the CARE Issues Luncheon at the Annual Meeting; and

Ø  Visit the CARE marketplace/poster session.

 

Application: Eligible applicants should apply by sending:

Ø  Letter of interest which includes:

·        contact information, including name, address, email address and phone;

·        which fellowship (student or professional) you are applying

·        for the Student Fellowship, please include the name of the college or university

·        for the Professional Fellowship, list institutional affiliation or title, if applicable

·        a summary of your experience in audience research/evaluation;

·        explanation of why you would like to attend the AAM Annual Meeting; and  indicate if you have you submitted a session proposal to present at Annual Meeting Preference will be given to those who are presenting at the Annual Meeting, either in a panel session or presenting a poster (one type of presentation will not be weighed more heavily than the other).

Ø  Current resume

Ø  If applying for the Student Fellowship, please provide a copy of your valid student I.D.

Ø  Letter of recommendation from a supervisor or academic advisor emphasizing applicant’s work and contribution (or potential contribution) to the field.
