Museumpalooza:
A Celebration of Cultural Tourism and Communities
It's time to celebrate!
And what better place to celebrate museums and cultural tourism that Chicago,
Illinois! Make plans now to attend the 2011 AMM conference, Museumpalooza: A Celebration of
Cultural Tourism and Communities. This
fabulous conference is scheduled for July 24-27 at the beautiful and
historic Palmer House Hotel in Chicago, Illinois. AMM will collaborate
with the Illinois Association of Museums (IAM) to present this special
conference experience. AMM and IAM have scheduled Museumpalooza in
conjunction with the Visitors Studies Association (VSA) 2011 conference, Sustaining a Community of Learners.
This partnership will create a unique and expanded opportunity to network and
share best practices with other museum professionals. Adopting an open
door policy, registrants for both conferences will have access to all sessions,
speakers and special events.
AMM and IAM are accepting
session proposals for Museumpalooza.
Special consideration will be given to sessions that incorporate unique
presentation formats, that address relevant museum issues, and demonstrate
creative collaborations. AMM and IAM are particularly interested in
sessions that provoke dialogue, encourage critical thinking and advance learning.
The deadline for submitting a
session proposal is Friday,
November 19, 2010. To download a session proposal, visit http://www.midwestmuseums.org/pdfs/call_for_proposals2011.pdf.
