Our regular monthly lecture is the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. and has been for as long as anyone can remember. We get between 80 and 140 people, depending on the topic (and, yes, the 140 breaks fire codes). The lectures are free, open to the public, and usually receives good coverage in our local paper the Sunday before. More recently, we started a quarterly brown bag series where we show items from the collection that usually aren't on display. So far, we have only invited our donors of $100 or more. Attendance is between 15-25, which is a little disappointing, but we are working on better marketing. Surprisingly few people bring their lunch, and we provide dessert and drinks.

Good luck.

We are bouncing around the idea of doing Brown Bag lectures.  Our usual lecture series was Sunday afternoon, but now we are thinking of trying it during the week.  Has anyone done this? Has it been successful?
