I work at a Cultural Center with no permanent collection, but we put together two programs per year with displays, videos, and lectures. The lectures and presentations that we offer actually drive most of the traffic to an exhibit . We do widespread mailings with the full program listing , and most of our visitors are either retired individuals, senior groups or k-12 school groups (even though we are located on a community college campus.) Most attend a presentation and visit the exhibit. We tend to think broadly about a certain theme, and find that the lectures that get the most attendees are the ones that deal with local history or align with elementary school curriculum. You can see our current lecture series here: http://lorenzoculturalcenter.com/schedule/index.asp and photos of past exhibits and lectures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39262380@N02/collections/72157623050970694/ Good Luck!
