Ellen, whatever you
use, keep in mind that foam core dents very easily when it is dropped. You may,
if you haven’t already, want to frame your panels in something sturdier
to reinforce the edges. Chances are, if they’re traveling, something will
be dropped at some point.

Subject: Hanging devices for
travelling exhibitions
The Ontario Jewish
Archives is currently working on a traveling exhibition project derived from a
physical exhibition that we closed recently entitled “Facets of Fame:
Portraits by Toronto Photographer Al Gilbert”. The display includes
approximately 80 large scale panels and photographs mounted on foam core. What
type of hooks should we affix to the back or system should we devise in order
to make it easy for institutions to install in their galleries? The system
should be as universal as possible, in order to accommodate as many
institutions as we can using one system. I thought I would ask list serve members
to help us out with this query, since we are relative novices in the area of
travelling displays.
