Meg:

That is odd.  A sharp blade and a straight edge should be sufficient.  You may need to go over the cut a few times to get through.  Make sure you have a barrier under your board, like cardboard, to make sure you do not cut through anything under the foam core.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] an utterly newbie exhibit question

 

Hi, all.  I've been lurking for a few months -- I just graduated from the University of Washington's museum certification program in June -- but this is my first post.

 

And it is an utterly rookie newbie question.  What is the best inexpensive way to cut foam core board?  A brand-new exacto knife blade was not adequate to the purpose (the cut wasn't smooth no matter how hard I tried).
