Yes, we do that. It’s up to the
discretion of our visitor services staff to some extent, but generally if
people come in near the end of the day – say an hour or so before close –
they are told that if they show their receipt the following day (which has a
time and date stamp printed on it) they can come back the next day and see the
rest of the museum or get a guided tour if they’ve missed the last one of
the day without having to pay admission again.

Closing Time versus Admission
Kristine’s post made me wonder if
anyone offers a “wrap around” admission – ie, come after a
certain hour, and your admission is good for the end of that day and all of the
next day.
We don’t – all our tours are
guided, so you either make the last tour (one hour before closing) or you come
back another day.

Closing Time versus Admission
We stop selling admissions 45 minutes
prior to closing. Sometimes people argue with us and want to get in for free if
they come after that time, but it really does take more than 45 minutes to
really enjoy the museum, so we invite them to “come back tomorrow”.
Our hours of operation and admission sales are indicated on a large sign
outside of our front entrance.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Posted Closing
Time versus Admission
I’m
wondering how others handle the sale of admissions as your closing time
approaches.
1)
Do you sell admissions right up to
the posted closing time, or do you cut off admissions prior to the posted
time? For example, if you close at 6, and someone walks in at 5:55, do you
allow them through your museum?
2)
If not, how long is the window
when you do not sell admissions?
3)
If you cut admissions off prior to
closing time, is that posted anywhere?
