"A man came upon a construction site where three people were working.
He asked the first, "What are you doing?" and the man answered,
"I am laying bricks."
He asked the second, "What are you doing?" and the man answered,
"I am building a wall."
He walked up to the third man,
who was humming a tune as he worked and asked, "What are you doing?"
and the man stood up and smiled and said,
"I am building a cathedral."

Subject: Re: [MUSEUM-L] Social Media Stats

Heather,
If you have a fan page on Face Book it will send you weekly updates with some general tracking information (for example, number of posts made on your page, new fans added, etc) As for twitter: there's nothing that they put out to help you track information. For them I would suggest keeping track of how many followers you get from week to week. You can also keep track of how many of your tweets are being retweeted and how many replies you're generating (conversations going back and forth between you and your followers). With social media it's all about the conversations being generated and how far your information gets out on the net. So keeping tabs on how many different places your information shows up is a great start.
