If so, you may want to express your concern over the
proposed cuts to funding of three key historic preservation programs in the FY
2011 budget. Funding for Save America's Treasures and Preserve America is set
to be terminated and National Heritage Areas is slated for a 50%
cut. Historic preservation programs like these are critical, not only
because they safeguard our national heritage, but because they serve as
economic development engines and job creators in the thousands of communities
they serve.
Please sign the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s
open letter to Congress asking for funding to be restored to last year’s
levels at http://my.preservationnation.org/site/Survey?ACTION_REQUIRED=URI_ACTION_USER_REQUESTS&SURVEY_ID=13181.
We’ll deliver the letter to the Capitol in late June.
