Ginger, what is being shown and what can be put away? If you have kitchen items to show from the period, sink a countertop and cover the items with plexiglass, and if they are modern items needed for the demonstration, what is the problem of storing it away out of sight in a locked cabinet? Since it's not technically manned, it is open for things to be taken or used in an appropriate manner. However, if things are "glued" down, how can demonstrations be done? He doesn't like the idea of ropes or plexi there either. I just can't see a solution.
