In honor of Preservation Week
<http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/alcts/confevents/preswk/index.cfm>
(May 9-15, 2010), NEH celebrates the tenth anniversary of the
Preservation Assistance Grants program. NEH has made over 1,300 awards
totaling more than $6 million to put smaller institutions on the right
path toward preservation of their humanities collections. We consider
support for smaller institutions to be essential to our mission to
preserve and provide access to cultural heritage in public collections
in the United States. Awards of up to $6,000 support preservation
related collection assessments, consultations, training and workshops,
and institutional and collaborative disaster and emergency planning.
Grants cover consultant fees, workshop registration fees, related travel
and per diem expenses, and the costs of purchasing and shipping
preservation supplies and equipment. To learn more about the program,
please see our 10th Anniversary Web Page
<http://www.neh.gov/whoweare/divisions/PreservationAccess/10thAnniversar
y.html> , which provides a search tool to access previously awarded
projects.
Please see the 2010 Guidelines
<http://www.neh.gov/grants/guidelines/pag.html> for Preservation
Assistance Grants for Smaller Institutions. The next deadline for
applications is May 18, 2010. For more information, contact the staff
