Hi Lynne, The Amistad Research Center, at Tulane, also has excellent Civil Rights era collections, so your donor might consider contacting them. http://www.amistadresearchcenter.org/ All best, Amy Amy J. Lynne, There are many civil rights-related museums that the potential donor could contact. If you're in Massachusets, I would suggest first figuring out if there are any African American-themed museums in the state--they would be more than happy to receive these letters. The Museum of Afro-American History in Boston comes to mind. Of course, the donor could also consider giving these letters to the National Museum of African American HIstory and Culture in Washington, D.C. -Andrea Burns On Wed, Apr 28, 2010 at 10:07 AM, Lynne <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>> wrote: Our small local history museum had a misdeirected call yesterday from a potential donor who has (I think) three 1966 letters written to her by a friend who was in the middle of the conflicts during the civil rights movement. The only thing I remember her mentioning about the content was the writer's description of bodies in the streets. She said the letter writer went to Harvard and wondered if she should donate the letters there. I said I wouldn't think to look to Harvard for related material if I was researching the civil rights movement, but that I would post here to ask what the most suitable repository is. Can you help? Thank you. Lynne ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information: The Museum-L FAQ file is located at http://www.finalchapter.com/museum-l-faq/ .
