Workshop: Introduction to the Preservation and Conservation of
Photographs 

 

This one day workshop with Lincoln Ross will expose participants to a
wide range of topics, which will ultimately enable them to properly
preserve archival photographs and engage in basic conservation
practices. The topics will include: 

 

*	History of photography and the imaging processes 
*	Identification of photographs
*	Stability of the various processes utilized by photographers
*	Proper use of storage and enclosures
*	Setting conservation priorities
*	Basic conservation treatments 

 

Date: June 16, 2010

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

Location: Georgian College, Barrie ON 

Cost: $150 for AAO Members, $200 for Non-AAO Members 

 

Workshop: Digitizing Archival Photographs


This workshop with Photographer Christopher Gonzaga provides an
introduction to the digitization of archival photographs. Participants
learn digital imaging basics and the challenges of creating digital
copies of photographic records. This workshop is designed for those who
have little or no background in digital scanning or photography. 

Through lecture and demonstration, participants gain an understanding of
digitization topics including:   

*	Digital terminology
*	Types of digitization equipment
*	Best practices
*	Post processing
*	Digital image management

Date: June 16, 2010

Time: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Location: Georgian College, Barrie ON
