Job Description Cultural Outreach Coordinator General Information Duration of Job: Language: English, French an asset Hours: 30 per week Type: Permanent Project and Job Objectives The Fort McMurray Historical Society has traditionally hosted many unique programs and events annually. As the park continues to offer more events and provide more services for our visiting public, it is necessary to have staff capable of marketing the events effectively and ensuring that events operate smoothly. Events include Park Opening, Celtic Day, National Aboriginal Day, Old Fashioned Christmas, Exhibition Openings, Fundraising events and presentations to the public. This individual will be responsible for graphic designs, media releases, volunteer recruitment, training and scheduling, and liaising with the community to generate donations. As part of this position, this person will manage summer staff positions as required. The Work Description The Cultural Coordinator will be responsible for the design of posters, media releases, planning, volunteer recruitment, and organization for all of the special events scheduled for the year. This individual will be responsible for managing the details for each event on our calendar and where possible, creating new events to increase our visitation. The employee will: . Design and produce advertisements in the form of posters, media releases, radio advertisements, etc. for all park operations. . Liaison for the media for Heritage Park. . Seek donations for the events. . Create event schedules. . Host event meetings with outside stakeholders. . Recruit, train and schedule volunteers. . Manage summer staff as applicable. . Plan event activities. . Organize the equipment and supplies for events. . Create a local celebrity list. . Handle the administration required for each event. . Assist the Executive Director in operating each event. . Assist with tourism bookings. . Attend training sessions as available. . Conduct evaluations and create a final report for each event . Handle other duties as required.
