Project Goal:

 

Create a high-quality, 60-minute historical documentary program suitable for broadcast on PBS television stations.

 

About the Southeastern Indiana Historic Film Project:

 

The Southeastern Indiana Historic Film Project is a not-for-profit organization under the auspices of Historic Hoosier Hills RC&D, Inc., Versailles, Indiana.

 

Mission Statement:

 

To produce films that explore and celebrate the history and culture of southeastern Indiana.

 

Vision Statement:

 

Create a lasting document that inspires a better appreciation of the history and culture of the communities and people of southeastern Indiana.  Help attract visitors to the area, motivate residents to actively explore the region’s heritage and help educators excite their students about the relevance of history to their own lives.

 

Eligibility:

 

Respondents must be professional producer(s) or professional production company.  Only producers with a proven track record of planning and finishing substantial television or film projects will be considered.  Students, schools and institutions may not apply. 

 

Producer(s) must be native of Dearborn, Ohio, Switzerland or Ripley County, Indiana, or have been a resident for a period of no less than 5 years.

 

Producer(s) must have experience producing PBS programs on a national and statewide level.

 

Producer(s) must have received broadcast industry awards for historic-themed productions.

 

Producer(s) must have knowledge of southeastern Indiana history.

 

Producer(s) must have knowledge of and be able to comply with all PBS programming requirements in terms of length, format and technical quality for both local and national PBS broadcast, and have a strategic partnership relation with at least one PBS station in Indiana, and have a proven placement record of programs with PBS affiliated stations. 

 

Producer(s) must meet all legal requirements of licensing of all materials used in the creation of the program including audio visual licensing rights, and all required personal releases, location releases and property releases, as well as umbrella liability insurance for the project.

 

Producer(s) must be willing to enter into a contractual agreement with the Southeastern Indiana Historic Film Project and Historic Hoosier Hills RC&D, Inc. in regard to delivery dates, legal obligations, and guarantee to never exceed existing production budget.

 

Producer(s) must submit detailed breakdown of production budget.

 

Producer(s) must submit relevant samples of produced work of historical documentaries or cultural programming, submitted on DVD, with proposal.

 

Subsequent production must meet the goals of the Southeastern Indiana Historic Film Project as stated in the mission statement and vision statement.

 

Producer(s) must exhibit a willingness to work with the Southeastern Indiana Historic Film Project board in order to achieve the stated goal.

 

Required documents must include:

 

A detailed project budget for a 60-minute documentary program.

 

Contingency plan(s) in dollar amount(s) in the event that total underwriting for a 60-minute program is not achieved by the Southeastern Indiana Historic Film Project.

 

A production timeline.

 

Producer(s)’ professional biography or filmography, or description of production company listing relevant projects completed.

 

Work samples list, with brief description of at least two work samples, including year completed, medium and producer’(s) role in the project.

 

Relevant television or film industry awards list.
