For those of you with historic buildings maintained by your institutions or those of you with historic structures in your collections, what are the pros and cons of accessioning historic buildings into your collection? If the structures are accessioned, what allowances are made for their maintenance and care? If they are a part of the permanent collection but are exposed to the elements and/or regular tours, do the structures have special designation or documentation in your policies that reflects a level of security and maintenance/care that differs from other objects in the permanent collection? Feel free to contact me on or off list. Many thanks!
Best wishes,
