NLEM Graphics Imaging Project
Paid spring 2010 internship available. The National Law Enforcement Museum<http://www.lawenforcementmuseum.org/>, a museum in development, is seeking an intern to assist with the NLEM Graphics Imaging project.
The NLEM Graphics Imaging project will encompass object handling, evaluation, and records documentation, to include:

*         Scanning designated graphic materials housed in the NLEM's collections, according to predetermined standards. Items include lithographs, etchings, wood engravings, offset, and various photographic processes;

*         Create batch thumbnails using software, provided by the NLEM;

*         Update collections database (FileMaker Pro) with data obtained from the measurement, evaluation, and condition reporting of each artifact being scanned;

*         Training in object handling methods and procedures in order to properly process NLEM collections items.



Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate-level Education or Museum Studies program and possess strong time management, communication, and organizational skills.



Applicant must be available to work 20 hours a week, 8:30-5pm, Tuesday-Friday, January 4, 2010 through April 30, 2010. Offsite storage is near Suitland, MD, so independent transportation is a plus, but not required.
