The Access program can have tables in excess of 50,000. I have personally seen one table with more than 250,000, but anything larger than 50,000 is not recommended by Microsoft or by our IT staff because of possible corruption problems.

Please note that this program should not be used to store more than 50,000 entries within a table.

Why is that? I was managing an Access v2.0 database back in the mid-90s that had almost 60,000 records in the primary table, with no ill-effects. Surely, modern versions of the product are at least as capable as the ones from 16 years ago?
