Berlin after more than 25 years (it was only West Berlin back then)! I've figured out the museums and attractions I want to visit (or re-visit), but wonder where I might stay. I used a central hotel south of K'damm years ago, in a nice, treed area. But I was lucky enough to have a car to get around. Walking this time, using local transportation, and wondering if I should be located somewhere else that has places to visit on foot as well as character, quiet, shops for food, subways, etc. As well, friends have suggested using 'Homeaway', an online service with small, modest apartments at competitive prices throughout the city. It looks OK, but you may have used this or other services to recommend (or condemn)? Thanks.
