Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Idea for a museum fundraiser

So I had this idea. Maybe it's not unique, but it came to me last night, and
I thought it might be a cool idea to pass on.

Most all of us know what a Pollock looks like. Paint sprinkled, thrown,
splashed on canvas. So what if you had a fund raising element where you had
pieces of canvas and squirt guns or blaster guns filled with tempra paint.
You have people pay per squirt to splash paint on the canvas AND you make it
a collaborative effort. Maybe you allow 5-10 people per canvas with lots of
colors. You make money on the squirts and it has to be more than enough to
pay for the canvas (or even poster paper of some sort). You allow them to
dry and "display them" somewhere in the museum. Then, later, you auction
them off.

On the one hand, you have common folk--especially kids--who are allowed to
participate. But maybe you get some local celebs or big names to
participate. You get your mayor or representatives/senator to partake
(because that could get their involvement support). You find somebody who is
connected to somebody famous, and you have them partake.

It would be all in good fun, but in good fundraising. You probably need some
sort of overgarment to cover clothing (thrift store or freecycle.org), so
your costs aren't diminished by sullied clothing.

Thoughts? I hope you like the idea, and someone or someones try it out. It
just sounded like fun to me.
