Looking for more specific basic courses? Try one, or all four, of our 4-week
mini courses:

Introduction to Reformatting: August 3, 2009 - August 28, 2009

This 4-week online course will provide participants with current, essential
information for those who are responsible for the management of paper-based,
photographic, audio, and video collections that are seeking to create,
manage, and preserve digital assets.

Climate Control for Small Institutions: August 31, 2009 - September 25, 2009

This 4-week online course will allow participants to explore the issues that
need to be considered when planning for climate controls. Low cost-low tech
solutions will be offered and discussed.

Conservation & Preservation of Photographs and Albums, September 28, 2009 -
October 23, 2009

This 4-week online course will first provide an overview of factors
effecting the preservation and care of photographs. Appropriate handling and
storage materials, as well as sources for supplies will be covered.

Basic Preservation, Care & Handling of Paper Based Materials, October 26,
2009 - November 20, 2009

This 4-week online course will provide an introduction to the factors
effecting the preservation and care of paper-based materials. Building on
this knowledge, participants will then learn about appropriate techniques
for handling and storing collection materials and recommended sources for
supplies. 

The cost to participate in a 4-week online course is $45 for UHA members,
$60 for non-members. Or you can sign up to participate in a series of all
four, beginning with Introduction to Reformatting on August 3, 2009 and
ending with Basic Preservation, Care & Handling of Paper Based Materials
which begins on October 26, 2009. The cost to participate in the complete
series is $150 for UHA members, $200 for non-members.

These courses are a great way to gain professional advice and training
without having to pay high registration or travel costs!
