Try searching with the terms "Pelton wheel" .  It's the most common water turbine used in North America.  You will find thm in many museums, most relaited to mining or hydro-electric power.
 
The Knight Foundry http://knightfoundry.org/about.html is trying to preserve a water powered foundry-machine shop in Sutter Creek California... This was the home of the compeating "Knight wheel", 9 or so of which power the foundry... It is very much a progect in progress, with progress slowed by the California budget crisis.
