The National Building Museum (www.nbm.org), located in Washington, DC, seeks applications for part-time Museum Teachers to work either during the week or weekends for 10-20 hours a week.  Available shifts include: Monday-Friday 9:30 am-12:30 pm and 12:30-3:00 pm, Saturday 9:30-12:30 and 1:00-4:30, and Sunday 1:00-4:30 pm. The National Building Museum offers approximately 1,000 programs for school, scout, and birthday parties every year.

 

Qualifications include:

1) flexibility and enthusiasm for working with children;

2) excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills;

3) degree in education, museum education, or teaching certificate and/or two or more years experience teaching in a museum or classroom;

4) knowledge of architecture, design, civil engineering, and the built environment is a plus, as is scouting experience.
