I would follow whatever your institutional policy is for regular staff. I would not make "special rules" for the students coming for the summer. If they have certain rules that they see regular staff doesn't have to follow, it may cause problems.

Once again we will be bringing students on for the summer and I wanted to
know what others do about the use of cell phones/blackberries  on the job
and ipods etc. Do you ban them outright? Would like some feedback please.
