The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, in Cooperstown, NY, is
seeking a Manager of School Programs as a key member of its Education
Department. The Manager of School Programs is responsible for
development and administration of on-site and distance learning
programs, curriculum development and museum educator training,
electronic field trips, education department web site, podcasts, and
electronic education newsletter. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and
Museum is an independent, non-profit educational institution dedicated
to fostering an appreciation of the historical development of baseball
and its impact on our culture by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and
interpreting its collections for a global audience as well as honoring
those who have made outstanding contributions to our national pastime.

 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:  



*        Direct videoconferencing endeavors, including associated
curriculum and collateral materials.

*        Develop and implement educational programming for the K-12
student and educator audience.

*        Develop budgets and track expenditures for the school programs.

*        Maintain relationships with and communication to the museum's
education advisory council. 

*        Remain current with technological developments, teaching
practices and funding opportunities related to museum education.

*        Oversee development of and logistics for teacher training
seminars to position the Museum as a resource for classroom educators.

*        Oversee day-to-day scheduling and presentation of
videoconferencing with schools on a national basis.

*        Work with videoconference subscribers to define their
respective learning requirements.

*        Present, support and guide educators and students through their
selected videoconference program.

*        Coordinate the ongoing development of the Museum's
videoconferencing facility.

*        Coordinate annual Electronic Field Trips in collaboration with
outside technology and content providers. 

*        Supervise the administration of on-site programs for visiting
school groups.  

*        Continually evaluate the collective presentation of learning
options for visiting school groups.

*        Maintain the education department web site, write the monthly
electronic newsletter. 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION:  Bachelor's degree in education, museum studies, or a related
field. Master's degree in education, museum studies, or teaching, is
strongly preferred. 

 

EXPERIENCE:  A proven background in classroom or museum education is
required. 

Proven experience in curriculum development and national standards is
required. Strong knowledge of videoconference and distance learning
technologies is required. A basic appreciation of baseball and its role
in American society is important; however, an extensive knowledge of the
game is not required.

 

ABILITIES:  Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication
skills. Highly organized. Able to assume a leadership role and handle
new challenges. Work to  implement and sustain an enthusiastic,
energetic and motivational environment for full- and part-time staff.
Works well independently.
