“Stories of the Messengers: Works by Haydar Hatemi”

The Headley-Whitney Museum in Lexington, KY is pleased to present the traveling exhibition “Stories of the Messenger” by Haydar Hatemi. This timely, thoughtful and provocative exhibition by Hatemi had its origins the day after the tragedy of 9/11/01. In response to an internal question on how one furthers and creates dialogue, understanding and tolerance, this renowned world artist spent two years studying similarities and common messages in four sacred texts, The Avesta, The Torah, The Qur’an and The Bible. His work celebrates our shared beliefs founded within the varied world religions. His presentation of the messages from these sacred texts, in intricate and spectacular detail, are united to provide incredible imagery which delights the eye, and underlines the commonality of these important foundations of our respective cultures.

In addition to being a fantastic visual exhibition, “Stories of the Messengers” provides a wonderful departure point for dialogue, contemplation and healing among cultural groups. We invite you to consider hosting this evocative and handsomely presented exhibition at your institution. Reservations are available for eight, ten and twelve week time frames.

Haydar Hatemi, a world renowned artist was born in Iran; he currently resides in Lexington, KY and Turkey. His unique style and artistic vision is evident in both “Stories of the Messengers” exhibition, and the companion exhibition “Botanical Series.”
