INTERNSHIPS
At the
advanced undergraduate and graduate level
The
AM&H seeks students at the junior, senior or graduate level to apply for
various internships for the spring of 2009. Qualified sophomores with adequate
coursework, experience and recommendations may be considered as well. All
spring internships run from February 2 –
1. Education
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The AM&H
seeks one advanced undergraduate or graduate level student with experience and
related coursework in the field of education to design family and children’s
tours of the
RELATED FIELDS OF STUDY: education, history, American Studies, English, tourism.

2. Historic Gardens
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The AM&H seeks one to two students to complete various projects at the Historic Adams House Victorian gardens. These projects could include planting, transplanting and general care of the gardens, creating a garden tour for the public, creating a garden brochure and creation of plant description cards. Computer skills and knowledge of gardening preferred.
RELATED FIELDS OF STUDY: Botany, outdoor education, biology, English, history, horticulture, environmental studies, tourism.

3. Collections
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The AM&H seeks one to two students to process significant portions of the collections at the Historic Adams House. Projects will include cataloguing, object photography, storage and possibly preparation for and/or exhibit.

The Adams Museum & House, Inc.
(AM&H) is a private, non-profit history and educational complex that
operates two museums: The Adams Museum and Historic Adams House. Currently, the
AM&H is in the process of opening the Homestake Adams Research and
The mission of the non-profit
AM&H is to identify, preserve, collect, interpret and promote the
history and culture of Deadwood and the surrounding Black Hills for the benefit
of members of the Northern Black Hills community, visitors to the area and
researchers. We achieve this goal through extensive public programming ranging
from school tours and musical performances to workshops in the Victorian arts
and haunted hayrides. With a core professional staff of nine individuals
with varied talents and backgrounds, our museums are bustling year-round with
locals and tourists from around the world. The
