Tim,

The reason I sent the original post this morning was to be mindful of the
fact that many museums and historic sites has very tight staffing and to
encourage supervisors and co-workers to be supportive of those who may run
late with the large vote today in the USA.

 If someone from England or Canada or Brazil posted a message with similar
scope I would encourage that too - and the same goes with any discussion of
current events, such as the receding economies around the world, that may
affect museums and preservation even if in a more peripheral way.

If we are to effectively communicate culture, art, and history to our
visitors and colleagues we have to also be aware of the dynamics of current
events and issues that are in the collective consciousness of everyday life.
Often History is a mirror, as it were, of the present.
