Museum Registration
Intern
Location: The
Department: Collections
The Registration intern is responsible for assisting with
the accessioning of new artifacts into the Museum collection. Interns will work
with the Museum’s collections management database Mimsy XG, will be
trained in Museum artifact handling, and will become familiar with the
day-to-day responsibilities of a Museum Registrar. The Registration Intern
reports to the Associate Registrar.
Required Qualifications, Attributes and Skills:

Masters degree in Museum Studies or Library Science,
graduate student working towards a degree in Museum Studies or IMLS
·
Knowledge of collections management processes.
·
Detail-oriented and ability to be flexible.
·
Skill in organizing resources and establishing
priorities.
·
Excellent written and oral communications skills;
strong command of the English language.
·
Proficiency with Windows and database software.
·
12 to 18 hours a week for 3 months. All work must be
done onsite. Hours are flexible within 8 am - 6 pm, Monday - Friday.
Preferred Qualifications, Attributes and Skills:
·
Knowledge of Mimsy XG database software.
·
Knowledge of accessioning principles and standards.
