As a follow-up to this question, could you please also include policy and/or pricing for people who come to your museum or archives with a scanner and computer, and expect to be able to scan anything they want.

Subject: Museum sales and pricing

How do you establish the cost for historic photo sales from your museums?  Recently, my small historical society in attempting to gain badly needed  income has marked up prices for historic photos.  Some businesses and individuals have paid those high prices.  But I am wondering about the ethics of the mark ups.  Does your Board of Directors approve of  sales policies?  Is there a percentage that you use for photo and other sales?

Any comments would be appreciated.
