We have had lots of experience with cannon tubes. You don't need a fine arts mover at all. A thousqand pounds is not that heavy...only challange is changing elevation. Heaviest tube we moved was 184,000 pounds (12 inch battleship gun). Civil war tubes are light...would suggest nylon straps instead of chains to preserve the surface....otherwise it is easy....a tractor with a bucket with suffricient lift does quite nicely.
