I read a story in the Detroit Free Press today by Leonard Pitts Jr about the museum James Cameron started in Milwaukee, WI called America's Black Holocaust Museum. Mr Cameron survived a lynching attempt in 1930, and established the museum to remember the era when racial violence was common. According to Pitts, the museum is temporarily closed due to financial issues, and may close permanently. I have never been to the museum, but the article is relevant to the list. While I know of many museums dedicated to remembering the noble deeds of noble men and women, I don't know of any other museums dedicated to remembering the violence inflicted on Americans by other Americans solely based on their race.
