Collections Intern Gaston County Museum has a collections intern position available for August-December 2008 (a longer period is a possibility). Intern will work with the Curator and Registrar in re-housing and organizing objects in the permanent and education collections. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to assist with exhibits (prep, installation, de-installation), collections accessioning and cataloging, and creating computer records using PastPerfect. Successful candidate will be detail oriented, organized, and able to work independently. Must be able to work with and meet a strict deadline, lift up to 30 lbs, climb stairs and ladders. Preference given to candidates with previous museum work or course experience and/or candidates wishing to pursue a career in museums. This person will work closely with the Programs Coordinator to learn program methods and strategies. The intern will be responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of various museum programs. The intern will also work on other projects at the museum and in the community as assigned.
