Hi All,

Gaston County Museum, accredited by AAM and located in Dallas, North
Carolina, has two collections positions available. The first is our
Curator of Collections position:

Requires a Master's degree in Museum Studies, Collections Management,
Material Culture, Pubic History, Art, Art History or related field. An
equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Must be computer literate with a knowledge of data base management. Must
have the ability to work collaboratively and provide team leadership and
an understanding of artifact conservation issues and practices.

This position is responsible for all areas of collections management and
also for researching, designing, and installing all exhibits. The
Curator of Collections supervises one part-time registrar and a varying
number of volunteers and interns. It is a full-time, exempt position
with full benefits. The pay range is $29,978-$46,471 annually.

Our part-time Registrar position is also available:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in History, Museum Studies or related
field. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred. Formal course
work in the area of collections or other museum related experience is
desired. Candidate must have a knowledge of computers and have the
ability to manage data bases.

This position is allowed up to 29 hours per week and receives partial
benefits including prorated holidays and sick time. The rate is
$17.71-$27.45 per hour.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is PART TIME and will remain so for the
foreseeable future. If you are NOT interested in PART TIME work, please
do not bother applying. This was a major problem for us the last time we
hired for this position. With both collections positions open we frankly
do not have the time to waste on people who are really looking for full
time.

If you are interested in either position, please go to:
http://www.co.gaston.nc.us/HumanResources/JOBS.htm to see the job
descriptions and download an application. A Gaston County application
must be filled out in order to be considered for either position.
Resumes cannot be accepted in lieu of an application and all
applications should be sent directly to the Human Resources Department.
Only applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be forward to
the Museum for review.

We would appreciate everyone helping spread the word about these
openings. For more information on the Museum, please visit our website
at www.gastoncountymuseum.org Please feel free to contact me if you have
any questions regarding the positions.
