Life should be about doing what you love, not about the money.  At least, you would not be likely to lose money if you changed careers, unlike some folks!!  Lois Price (are you out there listening, Lois?) originally graduated from the Winterthur Early American Culture Program, then decided some years later that she wanted to be a conservator (interestingly, also paper), so you may want to talk to her.  She is now on staff at Winterthur in the position of head of conservation.  Good luck and have fun!

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Registrar considering Paper Conservation

Has anyone else traveled this road? I started off with the Museum Studies career path as a registrar and then decided to go back to school for Paper Conservation.

I am curious if anyone else had done and this and what the experience was like.  I'm pretty sure I want to do it, but spending the money to go back to school and probably make the same income seems like a big risk.

I thank you for any suggestions
-Natasha
