TORCH Meeting (A New Event Added to the Schedule)—On Saturday, May  
17, from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, a joint meeting of Herbarium Curators  
and the Texas Oklahoma Regional Consortium of Herbaria (TORCH) will  
be held at Cross Hall on the University of Oklahoma campus in  
Norman.  For more information, visit the NSCA/SPNHC conference

Program—The program will be posted on the website soon! Oral and  
poster presenters have been notified of their scheduled sessions via  
email. Additional information on presentation recommendations and  
available technology can also be found on the conference website.



Committee Meetings—The schedule for the board and committee meetings  
has been distributed to the Presidents of both societies and SPNHC  
Committee chairs. See the website for the complete schedule (http://

that the meeting of the SPNHC Best Practices Committee is scheduled  
for 9:00-10:00 am Tuesday 13 May.



Vendor’s Luncheon—The Vendor’s Lunch is full!



SIGs Luncheon—There are still a few openings at the Integrated Pest  
Management, Student Member Roundtable, and Social Sciences Permits,  
Regulations, and Legal Issues tables. The other five Special Interest  
Groups are full!



Trips and Museum Tours—Field trips to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife  
Refuge and Arbuckle Mountains Geology and White Mound are still open!  
Still open are the Film, Q&A, and Partial Tour (a morning tour) and  
the afternoon session of the SNOMNH Earth/Social Sciences Tour.

All other tours are full. The Oklahoma History Center Tour has been  
cancelled. Check the meeting website for more information.



Hotel—Rooms are no longer available at the Skirvin Hilton. A  
contracted room block has been obtained at the Sheraton Oklahoma City  
Hotel located 0.16 miles from the Skirvin (~5 minute walk). Call  
1-800-325-3535 (toll free) or (405) 235-2780 to make reservations; on- 
line reservations are not available. Indicate the group name '2008  
NSCA-SPNHC' to receive the conference rate.

Social and Banquet—Tickets are still available to dine with the  
dinosaurs, mingle with a mammoth, view the spectacular galleries at  
the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History! The museum gift  
store, Excavations, will be open during the Social. Music during the  
social and banquet will be provided by internationally known  
guitarist Edgar Cruz. After dinner, dancing and entertainment will be  
to the lively music of a DJ!
