Pendleton District Historical, Recreational and Tourism Commission
The Pendleton District Commission is a regional tourism promotion office and historical commission for the three counties which historically comprised the Old Pendleton District:
The Curator of Collections is responsible for all aspects of the Commission’s historical collections, Research Room, and the
Primary Duties Include:
- Oversee all accessions, loans and deaccessions
- Perform collection inventories
- Care for the physical condition of the collections
- Create exhibits
- Assist researchers
- Manage the SC Century Farms Program
- Coordinate the Friends of the Pendleton District Program
- Edit the quarterly newsletter
- Work on National Register and State Historical Marker nominations
- Present public programs
- Write and coordinate grants
- Serve as a liaison with other historical organizations and museums
- Assist in the
- Other duties as assigned
This is a full-time permanent position. Excellent benefits include State Health Insurance, State Retirement System, and paid vacation time. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Qualifications: Masters Degree in Public History, Archival or Museum Studies preferred; B.A. in History or related field, plus relevant training and experience, considered. Excellent organizational, writing, research and public speaking skills are necessary.
