As curator at a medium-sized county historical society in the Midwest, I am responsible for seeing exhibits through from conception to installation (all in-house).  Probably needless to say, I also take care of the artifact collection and process donations; in addition, I organize and oversee two major week-long programs annually (children's field trips and off-site historic building openings during the county fair).

Our museum has approximately 8,000 square feet of gallery space.  I am the only employee responsible for exhibits.

I would like to know what other institutions exhibit-related employees to gallery square footage ratio is.  A note about your institution's exhibit budget and the amount of production done in-house (and what work tends to be out-sourced) would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help!
