Paid Spring Internship available.

The National Law Enforcement Museum (www.nleomf.org), a museum in
development, is seeking an intern to assist with collections development
and research. The intern will assist the Museum Programs staff in the
acquisition, documentation, and accessioning of the Museum's Memorial
and Core Exhibition collection. Duties include inventory, fully
documenting each object (measuring, numbering, digitally photographing,
completing condition reports, database management etc.), and re-housing
the artifacts in a new storage facility. Interns may also be asked to
assist with exhibition design, public programming, and administrative
projects.

Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate-level Museum Studies program
and possess strong collections management skills, as well as a knowledge
of object-handling techniques. Archival experience, knowledge of digital
photography, and a familiarity with FilemakerPro are pluses. Interns
will receive a stipend of $10/hour, with a maximum of 260 hours.
Schedule is flexible but interns are expected to work approximately 16
hours a week - preferably Thursdays and Fridays. The main office is
Metro accessible in downtown Washington, DC; offsite storage is near
Suitland, MD, so independent transportation is a plus, but not required.
