Associate Director, BRIC Rotunda Gallery Salary: Commensurate with experience. Education: Bachelor (BA, BS, etc.) Location: Brooklyn, New York, Posted by: BRIC Arts Media Brooklyn Type: Full time Last day to apply: September 30, 2007 Description: BRIC Arts/Media/Brooklyn is a multi-disciplinary arts and media non-profit dedicated to presenting visual, performing, and media arts programs that are reflective of Brooklyn’s diverse communities, and to supporting the creative process. Our signature programs include, in the visual arts, BRIC Rotunda Gallery; in the performing arts, the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival and BRICstudio; and in media, Brooklyn Community Access Television. BRIC Rotunda Gallery occupies an award-winning exhibition space located in Brooklyn Heights, New York, and offers a highly regarded education program in schools throughout the borough. The Gallery was founded in 1981 to showcase the work of Brooklyn-affiliated artists and to support the borough’s visual artist community. Today, the Gallery continues to emphasize Brooklyn artists, alongside our expanded aim to increase the visibility and accessibility of contemporary art while bridging the gap between the art world and global culture in Brooklyn and the world beyond. The Gallery’s exhibition program consists of five exhibitions annually and an emerging curator initiative. The Gallery also maintains a large artist slide registry and a range of public programs intended to enrich appreciation and understanding of contemporary visual art. The Gallery provides arts-in-education programming to thousands of under- served New York City public school students, curriculum-based Gallery/school collaborations, teacher-training programs, and Gallery visits. Most schools served by the Gallery are in low-income communities, where students are considered at-risk, resources are scarce, and the arts are not often part of the regular curriculum. BRIC’s main offices are located in the BAM Cultural District, and we are actively engaged in the development of a 4,000 square-foot contemporary art exhibition space at this location. The space will be the anchor contemporary art space in a long-planned Brooklyn cultural district. The design phase will commence in Fall 2007, and construction will take place in Fall 2008.
