You may have heard about the IMLS Connecting to Collections program, but
if you haven't, it's worth a look. See
http://www.imls.gov/about/collections.shtm

One of the things they are funding is the distribution of sets of
collections care books. These are free, and they will give away
thousands of sets. More information at http://www.aaslh.org/Bookshelf/

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] old appliances

Please excuse any cross posting:

Due to the relocation of an aged relative, I have come into the
possession of some 1930s era appliances. One is one of the original
Maytag washers-cast iron with the wringer attached to the top. The
other is a 1920s/1930s refrigerator with a box freezer. I know these
are not the usual coveted antiques but when PBS did their 1900s house
and in Britain the 1940s house they looked for period pieces to furnish
the houses.

If anybody could point me in the direction of finding a home for these,
I'd appreciate it. I hate throwing things away.

Thanks,

P. Dillard
