The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum of the Seminole Tribe of Florida is currently seeking a
Curatorial Assistant. The Curatorial
Assistant will assist the Registrar and the Research Assistant with all aspects
of collection management including cataloging, research, and preservation
related duties. This position also works
on preventive conservation of the collection such as storing and numbering
artifact and archival objects. This position reports to the Museum Registrar
and is a non-exempt position. Job duties
include: Assist the Registrar and the
Research Assistant with conducting collection/ object history research and
reports. Assist to house objects in
appropriate acid-free storage packaging or boxes and label in accordance with
the STOF AH-TAH-THI-KI Museum policies and procedures. Assist by providing appropriate
handling of objects in consultation with Registrar, and ensuring their safe
keeping. Undertake administrative duties
related to curatorial projects as assigned.
Assist with documentation, storage, conservation and preparation of
object records; enter and update object/artifact catalog record information
into Past Perfect database. Minimum
requirements are an associate’s degree in History, Museum Studies,
Anthropology or a related field. Candidates who are in the process of obtaining
a degree (undergraduate or graduate level) in any of these fields will be also
be considered. Experience working in a curatorial setting is preferred. Strong
organizational, communication and research skills, with the ability to
prioritize workload and handle many tasks simultaneously. Proficient computer
skills utilizing Microsoft software programs and add-ins Able to work a
flexible work schedule and evenings, weekends and holidays. Able to travel when
