We have just recently started putting objects into PastPerfect and we interpret Missing to be that the item was not located in the last inventory but there is still a chance to locate it (the previous curator did not keep good records of artifacts put on display and all of our exhibits have not been completely inventoried yet.) and Lost is strictly reserved for objects considered to be permanently gone.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] PastPerfect question

Hi everyone,

A quick question for those of you using PastPerfect: within Item Status, what is the difference between "Lost" and "Missing"?

Thanks,

Andrew
