Hi Tara.   You need to know the budget of the movie first.   How many square feet are they going to be using.  How much money will the Museum loss as a result of being closed.   To rent a studio for shooting can cost several thousand $$$ depending on the size of the studio.  You are saving them Mad amounts of money because they don't have to build any thing.  You are also incurring cost by closing and having to have people on set to insure proper care of the facility.  (remember these guys don't care what they break for the most part. (they do but I have seen things trashed with little care.  (a stuffed owl collection was destroyed on a movie I worked on. The production crew didn't even offer to pay him.(the Producers found out and payed because they do care.)   Any way  I can't even imagine less then $5000 and that could easily quadruple.  Can they shoot in another museum? If they can't then charge them A LOT.   I could put you in touch with an agent in Hollywood that might be able to help you.   You will want a lawyer to look over every little piece or contract. (and they should pay for that as well via the charged rate.)  You should understand something very very clearly.   They may not be the enemy but they ARE NOT your friend.  They want to make a movie and make a boat load of money from it.  They seem to need you to do that and the museum should get its fair share of that.     A person that may help you would be say quxiote studios in LA.  They are a huge studio and their booking agent may help you out pro bono

Peace
Randy

Hi All:

Our museum is being scouted by a major motion picture company as the location for a scene for an upcoming Hollywood movie. They have asked us to quote them a fee, and, never having done this before, we're not sure how much to charge. If anyone has any experience with this I'd appreciate your feedback -- how much did you charge and how did you calculate the fee (per hour, per day?).

Thanks
