Director of Donor Relations, Smithsonian Institution, Office of External
Affairs

 

The Director of Donor Relations reports to the Director of Institutional
Advancement in the Smithsonian Office of Development, and is responsible
for the cultivation and stewardship programs in support of the fund
raising goals of the Institution, managing the relations with the
Smithsonian National Board, the premier volunteer board of the
Institution, including staffing cultivation programs, volunteer
relations, engagement, and stewardship. With a staff of three, the
Director works closely with Development Directors and staff in
Smithsonian units to promote best practices in board management, donor,
and volunteer relations. The Director defines best practices for the
engagement and management of boards, communicates them to the
Smithsonian development community, provides leadership in the creation,
planning and execution of cultivation and stewardship programs, and
collaborates with Smithsonian units to produce strategic outreach
efforts that support Institution-wide strategic cultivation and
solicitation plans. 

 

The Smithsonian is the world's largest museum and research complex with
an international reputation for its exhibitions, research, collections
and programs, and includes 16 museums and galleries, four major research
centers and the National Zoo spanning seven states, the District of
Columbia and the Republic of Panama. 

 

This is a Smithsonian Trust position which offers a competitive salary
