We are asking university personnel associated with museum studies or public history programs, as well as university museum staff who offer training/internships for students interested in pursuing museum careers,
to encourage students to submit proposals for papers to be presented at the 2007 MPMA conference. The student session is offered each year and is sponsored by the Committee on Museum Professional Training and the Association of College and University Museums and Galleries. Papers may address any aspect of museum training, including research, internships, and applied projects.
In order to propose a student paper for presentation, please submit the following: Administrator's name, institutional affiliation, and contact information, including email; student's name and contact information, paper
title, two-page abstract, and equipment requests. Send materials to Dr. Carolyn Pool, Department of History and Geography, University of Central Oklahoma, 100 N. University, Edmond, OK 73034; or to
[log in to unmask] The
deadline for paper submissions is April 20, 2007. Students presenting papers are encouraged to apply for MPMA scholarships and to pursue funding through their universities. The deadline for MPMA scholarship applications
is June 8.
This is an excellent opportunity for students to present papers at a regional conference and to meet and visit with professionals in the field. If you need additional information, please contact MPMA or Carolyn Pool.
