Job Title: Membership Manager

 

The Intrepid Museum is looking for an organized, energetic sales and development professional to join our Marketing team to plan, direct, coordinate, and administer individual and corporate membership acquisition, renewal, and benefits programs for the Museum’s Marketing department. 

 

This is a great opportunity to be a part of our exciting and interactive team!  The Intrepid Museum is gearing up for the re-opening of our new and improved museum complex for 2008!

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

·         Developing and maintaining membership programs, including services, benefits, and policies; coordinating benefits with other departments; and researching comparable programs at other institutions.

·         Creating and implementing strategy for Membership Department, including establishing short- and long-range goals for individual and corporate memberships.

·         Preparing and managing Membership Department budget.

·         Planning and implementing membership acquisition strategies, such as direct mail, on-site and off-site presentations, Internet membership programs, and other membership campaigns.

·         Implementing strategies for renewing annual support of current members.

·         Evaluating effectiveness of strategies and recommending changes when needed.

·         Researching, generating, and directing events and programs for members, evaluating, modifying, and continuing existing events and creating new ones.

·         Writing and maintaining Intrepid Membership Newsletter.

·         Administering membership program, including processing gifts, creating and distributing membership materials, collecting membership dues, and managing membership lists.

·         Speaking with and presenting to current and potential individual and corporate members both on and off-site regarding all aspects of the membership program.

·         Museum membership solicitation through on-site and off-site promotions.

·         Updating and maintaining Membership Website. 

·         Performing other duties as required by management.

  

Applicants must have a BA/BS in Marketing or a related field and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience; corporate partnership/membership experience a plus.  Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are required for dealing with potential clients.  Top-notch presentation and marketing skills are essential, as is the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.   Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and maintaining Websites a must.  This position may require local travel and working some weekends and holidays.
