Considering that David is from a "Regional Fire Museum" perhaps he has
another suggestion for extinguishing the candles!

The only drawback would be the "blowing out" part of the ceremony. Not
many people would want to eat a cake that had just been sprayed like
that!

Cindy --

What about a ""birthday" themed event. I immediately think of a BIG
cake with 70 candles that get blown out by staff, formr board members,
benefactors, local celebrities (politicians), the oldest (or youngest)
volunteers, or perhaps other seventy-year-olds in the community,
whomever. SEVENTY candles is a lot and would make for a great visual.
After singing "Happy Birthday" and blowing out the candles, you could
cut the cake and serve it at the event. . . . Imagine, you could
decorate easily enough, and send out stock birthday party invitations
with the note, birthday "presents" in the form or cash donations are
always appreciated. ;-)
