Internship Job Description

 

 

Position Title: Summer Camp Educator

 

Listing for:   Summer 2007 (June through August)

 

Estimated Hours: 25 hours per week

 

Positions Available: 5-6 (unpaid)

 

Description: 

          Plan, prepare and execute half day summer camp with the guidance of Education Programs Manager.  For the first time this summer, Museum of the Earth will be hosting a half day (9 am – 12 pm) summer camp for kids ages 5-11.   The camp will run for a total of 6 weeks (July 9th through August 17th).  Interns will be responsible for developing content of each day's activities and directly interact with and teach 5 campers throughout the duration of the camp session.

 

 

Qualifications Required:

Museum Studies and Education majors preferred, but not required.  The successful intern will be an individual who takes initiative, is able to work independently given project guidelines, enjoys channeling his/her creative energy into results oriented projects, and understands the mission of PRI and the Museum of the Earth.   Students should possess strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

 

 

Benefits Gained by the Intern:  

Direct experience in developing and delivering informal science education.   Immersion into all operational aspects of the Museum environment.  Interns will actively contribute to the mission of PRI and its Museum of the Earth.
