Oh I am very aware and do thank you for your concern. I've described in other posts...how I've set up water bucket traps. After feeding on the Decon, the anticoagulant will result in thirst and the animal seeking water. Rather than die from the poison, they'll die by drowning in the bucket of water. Still cruel but somewhat less so than allowing them to suffer longer and die in the manner which you note.

Again, my having to resort to more (and thought out) drastic measures (using poison) is because of an infestation which has caused wide-spread damage to our collections. I also have to think of the health and safety of our staff and visitors. Rodent carrying diseases and fleas, feces, risk of injury to staff (if they're startled/distracted by rodent activity while using sharp tools, etc.) and also - I've seen one too many of our elderly members startled by the chipmunks and squirrels.

Having them bleed to death this way is a very cruel way of kinning an animal.
Just so you are aware of the choices you are making.

But you gave me an idea that may help for delivery of the poison for the chipmunks -putting something else with the peanutbutter. Since I'm using the Decon, and can't be certain that this is being eaten, putting some pellets directly in the peanutbutter would increase the chance that it will.
